AVGS coaching for IT professionals
The IT job market has shifted: if you are looking for a job today, you need more than good technical skills. I support you as a coach who works as an Agile Master with international IT teams himself and knows hiring processes from the other side of the table.
I’m an IT professional and unemployed: what does AVGS coaching do for me?
AVGS coaching works on the points where an IT job search usually gets stuck: the right target roles, a CV that convinces both recruiters and the hiring team, preparing for technical interviews and a realistic salary expectation. With an approved AVGS the coaching is free for you; whether you get a voucher is decided by your caseworker. With me it runs online, across Germany, with a coach who works in IT himself.
Why the IT job search is different right now
Since 2026, software development is no longer on the German Federal Employment Agency's list of shortage occupations. At the same time, companies are still looking for the right profiles, for example in administration, security, cloud, SAP and databases. So what is missing is not developers in general, but profiles that fit exactly: specialisation, experience, German, region and salary expectations.
A long search is therefore often down to the market, not a personal failure. In the coaching, we work on presenting your profile so that it matches the positions that are actually open.
Who this coaching is for
- Developers, admins, data and cloud professionals looking for a new job after a dismissal or the end of a project
- IT professionals who want to take the next step: senior, lead, product owner or Scrum Master
- Career changers and graduates who want to gain a foothold in IT
- International IT professionals who want to settle into the German job market (coaching also available in English, Spanish and French)
What we work on together
- A CV for IT: task, technology and result for each position; skills grouped rather than shown as bars; a document that both people and applicant tracking systems can read.
- Target roles and target companies: which roles suit you, where they are advertised and where you can get further through contacts and referrals.
- Technical interviews: talking about your own projects, answering behavioural questions with the STAR method, preparing realistically for coding tasks.
- Salary: researching a realistic range and negotiating with confidence.
- LinkedIn: a profile that matches your CV and gets found by recruiters.
Contacts count for more than mass applications
According to the IAB Job Vacancy Survey, personal contacts were decisive in 27% of new hires in Germany in 2025, and online channels such as job boards and company websites in just over half. That is why we don't just work on your documents, but also on a list of target companies and on how to approach your network without coming across as pushy.
Why a coach from IT
I am Dr. Janosch Leugner, a systemic coach who works in the IT industry himself as an Agile Master. I work with teams across Spain, Germany, Vietnam and the UK and know hiring processes from the perspective of the teams doing the hiring, too. You don't have to explain to me what a sprint, a code review or a take-home test is. My coaching is AVGS-eligible through an AZAV-certified provider.
Free for you if your AVGS is approved
This coaching can be 100% funded through an Activation and Placement Voucher (AVGS) from the German Federal Employment Agency or the Jobcenter. Your caseworker decides on the voucher. Check anonymously in a few minutes whether an AVGS applies to you:

Frequently asked questions
Is coaching worth it if I'm technically strong?
Yes, especially then. The bottleneck is rarely the technology; it is how your profile comes across to recruiters and the hiring team: CV, target roles, technical interview and salary expectations.
Is the coaching free?
If you receive an AVGS, the employment agency or Jobcenter covers the cost in full. Check in advance with the free AVGS check whether this applies to you.
Does the coaching take place online?
Yes, fully online via video, anywhere in Germany. Online coaching is provided for under the provider's AZAV accreditation.
Is the coaching available in English?
Yes. The coaching is available in German, English, Spanish and French.
Do you also help with changing careers into IT?
Yes. Together we look at which entry routes are realistic, how to use the knowledge from your previous job as an argument and how to explain the switch in your cover letter.
